Floor is painted...again!!

Well progress has been made, floor is freshly painted!!!







The unfinished wall in the second pic is where a door is going, probably next week. More to come.......

Outside is done...almost!!!!

Still gotta tar the roof and throw a door knob on. A back door will be added later, but I'll frame it out before I drywall it. And final inspection on Tuesday the 25th.

PASSED!!!!!!!!

SSWWEEETTT!!! Inspection passed!! This time a different one came out and he was way kool, we knew a lot of the same people and talked awhile. As soon as I get it painted , the pics shall come!!

Failed inspection!

Bummer! Failed inspection! He named 3 things(unfortunetly I wasn't there)
(1) no over lap on the corners of the top plate ( You can't over lap it because you have a parallel wall meeting a angled wall so I used 3x6 tie plates which he couldn't see because they're sandwiched between 2x4's)
(2) couldn't see my 4' o.c. augers on the east side( this was supposed to be a framing inspection, the augers were inspected in the foundation inspection and on the eastside they were covered by the flooring.)
(3) Didn't use H2x5d straps on plate to rafters( my fault here as I went by a different set of blue prints that had the roofing details and they just used a straight strap going up the wall stud into the top plate and then into the rafters.)
However after a quick trip to the Building Dept. one of the ladies called him up(he had went home already) and he gave the OK to go and felt the roof as I was worried as we have a hurricane in the Atlantic as of now. So Monday I hope to have a word with him and at least straighten out the first two things.

Well Home Depot had a sweet deal, one year to pay it off so I jumped on it! So here's an update

Finished the floor!!

3/4" tongue and groove floor is down and painted. I had to paint because it might sit a while exposed to the elements. When the building is done I,ll just put another coat on for the final stage.

(update 12/07/2025) The shed is still standing but some horrible stupid mistakes were made. DO NOT BUILD THE FLOOR LIKE I DID !!!

See how I made the plywood the foundation for the walls ..this was a no no. What I should have done was built the walls and then add the plywood floor. Also don't skimp out. Just build the whole shop out of pressure treated wood. I had two disasters. The first was the poor flashing job I did which caused a leak, and because the roof was slanted , it leaked behind the drywall over to the one side of the shop which had a long bench on it , this helped hide the leak which was probably leaking since the day I built it. We also had to floods. So I have replaced the floor, I have rebuilt one wall and and now in the process of rebuilding the second longer wall. And I have to shell out a lot of money to have some (professional) redo the roof for me. I am getting too old to mess with roofs anymore...goodby money, thanks for the short stay !!

My Mini Shed Shop

Well it took a lot of decision and thinking ( I almost didn't want to build due to the fact I don't like where I live. But due to economics, I'm stuck here for at least another 5 years.)

So anyway I decided to go ahead and build a 12 x 15 foot mini shop. I could have bought a prefab but due to setbacks I would have ended up with 10x15, so for the same money I can build it bigger and sturdier. Permitting was not as bad as I thought it would be, I didn't like the setbacks but hey I'm still able to put up a decent size shed. Here's a few pics of the progress so far.
