Battlefield,Dark Railers and La Cantina

Online gaming has always fascinated me from my first introduction to it in Warcraft which was basic but better than playing the computer. From Warcraft I moved onto Tribes which just engulfed me as a first person shooter that was 3d, had massive maps and you could build stuff.
It was really an engaging game but after awhile I went on searching for more. One day I seen an ad in a PC magazine for Battlefield 2. It looked kool and sounded very interesting.

However the specs for the game meant I couldn't use my old office pc(500mhz 258 ram), thus began my first PC build, I bought some gamer magazines and read up on building my first gaming rig. After finding New Egg and their fair pricing I took the plunge and bought everything I needed to play BF2.

First I played the demo which was awesome and everything seemed to work alright as far as my pc went( I had the lowest specs for economic reasons). I then went and purchased the game.
After a few months of playing problems emerged and I then dabbled in overclocking to allow my pc to play the game . And for awhile I was an OC expert or at least I learned to recover from BSOD screens.

Anyway I eventually found a server La Cantina that I enjoyed playing with some of the people there. I played under the name ZipSnipe and my first BF2 friend was Angry Inch, he was a kool guy and an admin plus I thought the name was kool, then Matix( I might have his name wrong it's been awhile).
After awhile I began to have a nemesis ]DR[ Devadander and no matter what I did he was always a step ahead of me. Eventually I was waging a personal war against these ]DR[ guys. They ruled the La Cantina server, they're constant teamwork and sneaky strategies made they a respectable foe. On one particular map Mashtuur they would fly around in a Blackhawk and just lay the city to waste with the devastating fire power that at the beginning of BF2 would go through buildings and you weren't safe if you were hiding. They eventually patched the game and fixed that but if any La Cantina vets are reading this I am sure you can recall the frustration these guys brought to the game.
Eventually La Cantina closed down and I ended up joining Dark Railers aka ]DR[( if ya can't beat 'em join 'em).
They turned out to be a fun group of gamers and we competed in BF2 tournaments and scrims. We won many but there were a few clans out there that we never did beat -R- and LAW. I remember those -R- guys putting a beating on us during a regular game on some server somewhere we were all pissed.
But our crew was fun, we had Dev,Cy,Mal,Spuey,Toast,WTH,Space,Mad,Shawn,Azrek,DrakoTyphoon,Deadman and Etc.. Fun times but eventually it died out.
Along came some mods like Point of Existence and then Project Reality. PR stood out the most, it completely changed the way the game was played. WTH aka Whattheh3ll was one of the first to play it and convinced me that this was the way the game should be played and after I adjusted to the way different way of playing I agreed. PR had huge maps and required yet another pc build for the game. Soon it was me,WTH, Drako, Clock and Mad dominating the PR landscape. I was really surprised that the rest of ]DR[ never got in too it. I agreed with some of their complaints but I always felt some of them should have given PR more of a chance and they would have seen the light. Well me and WTH are still playing and we are waiting to see what BF3 brings to the table.
